The Ideal Frequency to See Results with your Fitness
150 minutes of strenuous excercise plus 2 days of muscle building is the ideal amount of time to spend working out in a week as an average adult if you look at the scientific research. With Ruffier Fitness, that could look like 3 days with your trainer combining unique cardio options like rowing, running or biking, as well as strength focused workouts with free weights, bar bells, resistance bands, or your own body weight. The reality though is that not everyone can commit the time, money or energy to 3 days a week, that’s why we offer 1 and 2 day per week options as well.
However, the average adult isn’t everyone. Not everyone has the free time, the finances, or the physical ability to commit 3 days a week with a fitness trainer. If 3 days a week isn’t an option, we do still offer 1 or 2 day a week options, and we make sure that we jam pack those days with a challenging but enjoyable workout tailored to your goals and needs.
Working Personal Training into Your Schedule
Adding personal training to a busy schedule might seem overwhelming, but a little confidence and careful swaps can help you make it a sustainable switch that you’ll grow to love. Ask yourself the tough questions, are there things you do after work that could be swapped or delayed in an effort to prioritize working with your fitness trainer? Sometimes environmental stressors like the weather can make you put your fitness goals on hold. Read about how our clients stay active and fight the winter blues here.
What are your Personal Training Goals?
Are you looking to lose weight? Build muscle? Heal from an injury? Or even if your just trying to get better guidance on involving more activity into your daily life. Your goals and your personal timeline to reach them should always be a factor in how often you work with your trainer. More is typically a good way to hit your goals faster, but showing up consistently is half the battle.
You and Your Health | Communicating with Your Fitness Goals
Looking back when we were discussing the best frequency to work out with a fitness trainer. The study is making recommendations based on what the average adult should be doing, not every adult.
Let’s say you’re in the best shape of your life so far, and you’re hiring a personal trainer to train for a competition, or a marathon. The frequency that you work with your trainer could definitely need to be higher than 3 days a week. On the other end, if you have chronic health conditions that make over training a detriment to your health, less is more. Nothing is a one size fits all deal, and the right personal trainer for you should be able to adapt.
What’s your “Why?” with Personal Training
Whenever you make a life altering decision, it all starts with a singular purpose. When your fitness journey starts to get challenging, knowing why you started and where you’re going can keep the fire in your belly smoldering. In addition to motivation, your “why” can help you develop a training plan that makes sense to help you get to your final destination. Keep your purpose on the horizon with every step and you’ll make the right decisions for your health for years to come.
Would you rather work with a One on One Fitness Trainer or in a Group Fitness setting?
At Ruffier Fitness, we have options for both one on one personal training or group fitness training. Both options allow you to work with any of our experienced fitness trainers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
One on one training can be molded around your schedule and goals, while group fitness classes are available 6 days a week and offer a hands off approach while still having expert programing and guidance from a passionate personal trainer.
